Der Pop der Wiener Band ist einer, der seine Einflüsse aus dem Folk (weit weniger als noch auf dem ersten Album), dem modernen Liedermachertum, Rock und neuerdings auch aus dem Synthiepop der 80er Jahre und ein wenig New Wave bezieht und aufgrund seines zeitlosen Charakters erfreulicherweise alle angesagten Trends und Strömungen in weitem Bogen umschifft. Was Frontmann Alex Konrad und Kollegen darüber hinaus ganz vortrefflich beherrschen, ist, ihrer Musik diese seltsam undefinierbare Schwingung und Ebene zu verleihen, diese eigene Gin Ga Note, die einfach ein Mehr ausdrückt als die einfache Aneinanderreihung von Tönen, Klängen und Melodien, und einfach zu fesseln vermag. Ihre Songs durchbrechen jede banale Oberflächlichkeit und gehen – im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Indiepop-Entwürfen – wirklich in die Tiefe.
Hat es noch eines letzten Beweises bedurft, dass Gin Ga es drauf haben, etwas Großes zu leisten, so liefert diesen „Yes/No“ definitiv. Es ist ein Album, an dem man sich nur schwer satthören kann, weil es musikalisch einfach eben mehr bietet als vieles, das man sonst so zu hören bekommt.
