Der ursprünglich aus Holland stammende österreichische Blues-Musiker Hans Theessink begeistert seit Jahrzehnten mit einer speziellen Mischung aus Blues, Folk, und Weltmusik. „Slow Train“ ist ein rein akustischen Projekt, indem Theessink wieder auf die Talente von drei afrikanischen Stimmen setzt. Das Resultat ruft Erinnerungen an frühe Platten von Ry Cooder oder an Paul Simon’s „Graceland“ wach.
Theessinks Kompositionen bieten die ideale Basis für seine „Unplugged“-Gitarre und sonore Stimme und ergibt mit der 3-Mann Band und dem Vokalensemble ein stimmiges Ganzes. Dabei werden musikalisch kontinentale Grenzen übersprungen und magische Kombinationen erreicht. Theessink spielt keinen traditionellen Blues sondern führt mit liebevollen Arrangements und hypnotischen Grooves auf eine Reise vom Mississippi–Delta bis nach Afrika.
