Der 2M 78 Premounted ist speziell für die Wiedergabe von 78-rpm Shellac-Platten ausgelegt und wird bereits vormontiert auf einem SH-4 Headshell geliefert 13 was Montage und Austausch deutlich vereinfacht.
Der Tonabnehmer verwendet einen sphärischen Diamanten, der besser zu den tiefen Rillen von 78-Platten passt. Durch eine gekoppelte Ausgangsschaltung (strapped output) erzeugt er ein echtes Mono-Signal ohne zusätzliche mono-spezifische Hardware.
